An introduction to E-Solutions Group by founding Director Paul Adams.
Hello I am Paul Adams the founding Director of E-Solutions Group. In my first blog post I thought it best that we start at the beginning and tell you more about how I came to form the company. At E-Solutions Group, we provide an engineering support & consultancy service within Training & Competency Management Systems, primarily focused on the Railway, Marine & Training sectors.
The story starts with growing up on the isle of wight in the small town of Cowes, famous for its links to sailing and power boat racing which unbeknown to me was to heavily influence and inform my future career decisions. At the age of 16 I landed myself a summer job for a marine towage company as a fuel barge assistant, mooring and fuelling up anything from small RIBS to the ultimate Sunseeker yachts. This opportunity allowed me to continue studying for my GCSE’s and get crucial experience within the marine industry, which was to be the case for the next 5 years.
During the next 5 years I trained as a Marine Fitter working predominately on Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crafts, work boats and pleasure craft, gaining valuable foundations to an engineering career. Following that I spent 6 years working for a large composite manufacturer, involved with developing wind turbine blades and the new design of inshore RNLI rib, a boat that would be used to help save lives around the United Kingdom. This really embedded a standard that I would always pride myself on delivering in my own work.
Leaving the Isle of Wight was something I wanted to do to gain more experience and open-up new career opportunities and progression. Finally came the exciting news that I had been waiting for, I had been successful in gaining employment with a very renowned Motorsport Company “Prodrive Motorsport” which was a great achievement. This was followed by a period working for McLaren too.
I have always had an interest in training, development and education, whether for my own development or as an educator of others. With a solid base of hands-on experience in engineering my next role took me into the classroom teaching Light Vehicle Maintenance to day release under-16’s students. Students who were not at all engaged within their primary education facility. This was my first exposure within the education or training sector which was to be for next 6 years, working in the day as a Lecturer. This was where I really found my feet.
By night I was studying for the Certificate in Further & Higher Education to give me the understanding of the theories behind teaching. I had already gained substantial amounts of experience within industry, providing me with the knowledge and skills to help engage and pass onto young learners. My role included planning, designing, creating, delivering, assessing, engaging, differentiating, cross college activities/roles, career fairs all building my experience and expertise that enabled me to raise the profile of the engineering department that increased student numbers from 30 to 120 during my tenure.
Where to go from here? On the tools or off the tools? There was still drive in me to learn new skills and see what was out there and next was a career pivot to the railway. This was with a Train Operating Company that serviced a network covering the busiest train station in the UK. Managing the competence of safety critical roles, designing, and creating a risk management database for response technicians were all great and satisfying that my experiences had help keep one of the largest rail networks operating safely not only for the staff but that of the passengers and public.
Throughout my career it has always been a long-held ambition to combine my engineering skills with my training, learning and development skills and this is how I started “E-Solutions Group Ltd” and I am excited to work with organisations to deliver their training solutions.
